Gujarat Titans have been terrific with their performances in the IPL 2022 season to secure five victories in six league matches. In their last league match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK), they kept fine composure to get the fifth victory on their belt in a thrilling fashion. In Match 35 of the ongoing season, they are facing Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). In the latest interaction, the former cricketer-turned commentator shared his views on the Titans’ batting unit and the recent no-ball controversy.

Chopra reckoned that the Titans teams have aced crucial moments, which is the reason for them being successful in this season. He mentioned that the team has seen different match-winners in each match, with Rahul Tewatia helping them to win the initial matches, and then the heroics of David Miller and Rashid Khan sealing the last fixture for the team.

“In crunch moments, some or the other players have raised their hands. [Rahul] Tewatia scored 40 runs against Punjab and then slammed two sixes against PBKS. In T20 matches, you do not have the opportunity to make a comeback after committing a mistake, and another team wins the match. That is what the Titans are doing, when it’s a crunch moment, they are able to seize the opportunity. They have explosive batters like David Miller and Rashid Khan who were terrific in the last fixture,” said Nikhil Chopra on Sky247.net presents ‘Not Just Cricket Show’ on CricTracker

‘Little surprised the third-umpire did not intervene’ – Nikhil Chopra on no-ball controversy

Chopra was one of the Hindi commentators in the recent no-ball controversy in Match 34 between Delhi Capitals (DC) and Rajasthan Royals (RR). He said that it was due to the heat of the moment that DC captain Rishabh Pant, who thought that the decision was wrong, called his players to return to the dugout. Chopra was surprised by the fact that the third umpire and the match referee did not intervene in the matter.

“It certainly was a heat of the moment from Pant. I guess you have umpires on the field, whether are doing right or wrong, they are doing their work. In terms of sportsman spirit, you should think that the game needs to go on. It was his right to question the decision if he thought that a wrong-doing has been done to the team. I am a little surprised that why did the third umpire or the match referee did not intervene during this incident,” Chopra added.
