One of the new entrants of the Indian Premier League, Gujarat Titans are set to host their inaugural event at the world’s largest cricket stadium and their home ground, the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, on March 13 (Sunday). The momentous occasion will be graced by the presence of a slew of players and other sports dignitaries.
Earlier, the Titans had unveiled their team logo in The Metaverse in an unprecedented move, becoming the first-ever IPL franchise to enter the virtual space. The said space, called the “Titans Dugout” in The Metaverse, witnessed the franchise captain Hardik Pandya, one of their pre-mega auction draft pick Shubman Gill and head coach Ashish Nehra interacting with each other while launching the team logo.
The move was in a bid to create an interactive platform and “provide an immersive and engaging experience for our fans” in the words of Arvinder Singh, chief operating officer of the franchise. With the Metaverse launch, Gujarat Titans sketched an exemplary mark in introducing a dedicated virtual space for its global community of fans and players. Building on its logo launch on The Metaverse, the jersey launch will also be a trendsetter for India’s sporting community.
As one of the latest entrants into the tournament, Gujarat Titans have been creating a lot of buzz with their team building and the pioneering efforts they have taken in terms of fan engagement. Signing up of Hardik Pandya, Shubman Gill and Rashid Khan in January 2022 followed by the selection of a host of international and domestic stars at the auction, has created a well-balanced squad with a mixture of youth and experience.
Now, the team is all set for its debut season which will be preceded by a pre-season camp at its iconic home stadium at Ahmedabad. The 15th edition of the tournament, meanwhile, gets underway from March 26 as a total of 70 league fixtures will be played across four venues in two cities of Maharashtra (Mumbai and Pune). The tournament concludes on May 29.
