The only cricketer to pick a hat-trick in the first over of a Test match and that too against the arch-rivals Pakistan in 2006, Irfan is currently lighting up the commentary box with his presence and the analysis of the game. Irfan Pathan, in the concluded domestic season, shifted to Jammu and Kashmir as a mentor cum player to turn around the face of the state cricket. There was certainly an improvement in the team’s performance as Irfan’s watchful eyes guided a lot of youngsters in the side. Rather, the left-arm pacer was the one who spotted the talent in Rasikh Salam.
He was roped in by the Mumbai Indians (MI) and also played him in their first match of the season. Many lauded Irfan for helping the youngster grow during his stint with the J&K team this year.
