With the second strain of the COVID-19 virus wreaking havoc in India, lakhs of people are getting infected every day and many have also lost their lives. Fortunately, several celebrities came forward in such testing times to help their countrymen. While Bollywood actor Sonu Sood is helping needy people to get medicines and necessary supplies, Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli and his wife Anushka Sharma collected INR 11 crore through their fundraiser campaign.

Kohli’s teammate Hauma Vihari has also been helping his fellow citizens actively by amplifying their needs on social media. The right-handed batsman is currently in England, playing for Warwickshire in county cricket. However, this doesn’t restrict him from helping the ones in need. Hanuma Vihari has also created a team of around 100 volunteers – comprising family members, friends, and followers from across Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Karnataka. The team has reached needy people with plasma and oxygen cylinders and arranged food and hospital beds for patients.

I am doing it with the intention of helping people at the ground level: Hanuma Vihari

Vihari certainly understands the struggle of people at the ground level. Hence, he’s providing them with every possible help in these times. “I don’t want to glorify myself – I am doing it with the intention of helping people at the ground level, who actually need every help possible in these difficult times. It is just the start,” Vihari said as quoted by ESPNcrininfo.

The 27-year-old batsman also stated that his team of volunteers is reaching as many people as possible. He mainly aims to reach out to those who cannot afford or arrange for plasma, beds, and essential medicine. As mentioned above, Vihari has also been echoing the need of several needy people on social media. He has also been actively responding to the messages of the ones in need. Some of those citizens shared the screenshots of the chat with Vihari, showcasing the cricketer helped them arrange the necessities.

Meanwhile, the batsman is a part of India’s squad for the ICC World Test Championship final against New Zealand and the following Test series against England. With Vihari being in England for quite a while, he would have adopted the seam-friendly conditions and would be critical to India’s upcoming assignments in red-ball cricket.
