Harbhajan Singh has a fair amount of experience playing in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The off-break bowler has played 149 matches in the T20 event and has picked up 134 wickets. Moreover, he also used to show accuracy as his economy of 7.05 would suggest. The Punjab spinner played ten straight seasons for Mumbai Indians (MI), captained by Rohit Sharma.

However, prior to the last season, the tweaker was released by the franchise. He was listed for a base price of INR 2 crore and there was only one bid for the veteran bowler and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) picked him up in the auction. He didn’t play all their matches but made an appearance in 13 of them. However, he wasn’t quite at his very best with the leather in hand.

Harbhajan- A Super King

The experienced campaigner ended up picking seven wickets at an economy of 8.48 and with best figures of 2/22. He was one of the many CSK picked in the auction, who were above the age of 30. The franchise’s tactics to pick aged and experienced players worked wonders for them as they ended up as the champions, beating Sunrisers Hyderabad in the final at the iconic Wankhede Stadium.

In the meantime, CSK retained 22 of their 25 players from the last edition. Among them were one foreigner and a couple of uncapped Indians, which meant that Harbhajan would be donning the Yellow jersey even in the next season. After his retention, Bhajji was absolutely delighted. He couldn’t control his emotions and put forward a message in Tamil on Twitter.

Here is the translation of his tweet:  “Dear Tamil People, if I return it will be only as a King. Tell them, I’m back! Let’s rock each and every game and set the globe on fire!”
