The Indian off-spinner Harbhajan Singh has lashed out at the International Cricket Council (ICC) after they released the verdict over the recent ball-tampering incident. While Steve Smith was suspended for one Test match and was also fined with 100 percent of his match fees, Bancroft was handed over 3 demerit points and 75 percent of his match fees. However, Harbhajan felt that Bancroft should’ve been banned after all the evidences were against him and fumed over ICC for the same.

The incident happened during the third day’s play in the ongoing Cape Town Test match between South Africa and Australia where Cameron Bancroft was caught on the camera while scruffing the ball with a yellow tape in his pocket. However, soon after he realised about getting caught, he panicked and tried to hide it by putting it in his pants. The damage was done by then as even the umpires inquired him about the same and it was revealed later that changing the condition of the ball was pre-planned.

Bhajji reminds ICC of 2001 and 2008

Harbhajan Singh was livid after knowing the sanctions of Steve Smith and Cameron Bancroft on Sunday and lashed out at ICC in his recent post on Twitter. He reminded the world cricketing body of how 6 of the Indian players including him were banned in 2001 for excessive appealing against South Africa. Moreover, he also recalled the infamous Sydney Test match in 2008 when the Monkey Gate incident had led to him being banned for 3 matches which was then overturned.

“wow @ICC wow. Great treatment nd FairPlay. No ban for Bancroft with all the evidences whereas 6 of us were banned for excessive appealing in South Africa 2001 without any evidence and Remember Sydney 2008? Not found guilty and banned for 3 matches.different people different rules,” he tweeted in anger.

Meanwhile, even the cricket fans are not happy with ICC for not acting more strictly against the Australian cricketers as everyone awaits the step which will be taken by Cricket Australia (CA) now.
