New Zealand all-rounder James Franklin has revealed his all-time XI in a video posted by the Lord’s Ground from their official YouTube channel. He has selected 3 players each from India, New Zealand, and Australia. As always, the selection was based on the fact that the player should have played with or against the cricketer or influenced him.
There were quite a few surprise selections in the squad, which opens up with England Test skipper Alastair Cook and former New Zealand opener Nathan Astle. As many others have selected, Sachin Tendulkar was his next selection to his eleven. West Indies great Brian Lara, who is known cutting the balls out from the wicket-keeper’s gloves, is at no.4.
Indian opener Rohit Sharma is at no.5, who was the skipper of the Mumbai Indians (MI) side of which Franklin was a part. Former Australian middle-order batsman Andrew Symonds will render his services at no.6. Former New Zealand skipper, Brendon McCullum is the skipper and wicket-keeper of the side.
It was quite a surprise, that he omitted both Shane Warne and Muttiah Muralitharan from his eleven. Harbhajan Singh, who was also a part of Mumbai Indians side, is the lone spinner in the team. The pace bowling unit comprises of Brett Lee of Australia, Shane Bond of New Zealand and the left-arm pace of Mitchell Johnson. He said that the squad is selected in assumption to play all the formats of the game.
