Harbhajan Singh to marry Geeta Basra on October 29: Reports: India’s senior off-spinner Harbhajan Singh is set to begin a new innings in life as he and his long-time friend and Bollywood actress Geeta Basra are reportedly going to tie the knot in October this year.

Hindustan Times sourced a close family associate of Harbhajan, in the report which stated that, the marriage ceremony has been fixed on October 29 in Hotel Club Cabana in Phagwara, around 20 km from Jalandhar. However, the report also added that the dates might change if Harbhajan is picked for upcoming South Africa series at home slated for the month of October. Geeta Basra who is a Bollywood actress has been dating Harbhajan for many years now but the duo have never acknowledged the relationship publicly.

A senior official from Club Cabana, confirmed the booking made by the family for the event. “We have been booked for an event. We cannot disclose anything as we have been asked to maintain confidentiality,” said the club official.

Meanwhile, a report in The Tribune said that the off-spinner, during his recent visit to Jalandhar, had asked his friends to be ready for the big day. The 35-year-old Harbhajan is currently in Sri Lanka with the Indian team for the 3-Test series. He played the opening Test in Galle but was dropped for the second in Colombo, which started this Thursday.

Members of the Jalandhar District Cricket Association have confirmed the wedding plan. A Congress leader, close to the cricketer said, “During his visit to Jalandhar last month, Bhajji gave me a verbal invitation and asked me to be ready for his marriage on October 29.”

Harbhajan is currently India’s third-highest Test wicket taker with 417 scalps, behind Anil Kumble (619) and Kapil Dev (434). Sources revealed that marriage invitations and other preparations would be finalised after he comes back from Sri Lanka.
