Hardik Pandya is the glue that binds Gujarat Titans batting together: Nikhil Chopra

One of the two newest additions to IPL 2022, Gujarat Titans (GT) have been terrific with their unbeaten performances in the first three matches. In the last outing in the tournament, GT pulled off a nail-biting victory, and is currently featuring in Match 21 against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). The former Indian cricketer and commentator Nikhil Chopra spoke on the role of GT captain Hardik Pandya and the team’s momentum in the tournament.

Nikhil felt that Hardik is looking to lead from the front in both departments of the game. He compared his current role to the previous edition with MI and pointed out the fact that the GT captain is trying to play a bigger role in building the innings and prove himself in order to make a comeback to the national team.

“When Hardik played for Mumbai Indians, he played as a finisher. But for Gujarat, he is bowling in the powerplay overs and holding the responsibility to score runs. Nikhil Chopra was impressed with the attitude, performances, and overall sentiment of the Titans in their debut IPL season. He pressed on the fact of GT being the only team to win all the matches in the tournament so far, and have aced crucial moments. Nikhil praised the all-rounder Rahul Tewatia for his composure to strike two sixes off the final two balls to win the match for GT against Punjab Kings (PBKS).

“Although Gujarat is a new team, they have come through after performing well in difficult situations. The last win against Punjab was unbelievable, and it’s unbelievable that Tewatia managed to hit two sixes off the final two balls. The way Ashish Nehra has perfectly assigned the role to the players has paved the way for the team to be on the right path,” Nikhil added.

Nikhil mentioned the importance of the head coach Ashish Nehra, who has kept the dressing room environment cool and managed the players in the right manner.
