Harpreet Singh has been roped in as a replacement for injured Sarfaraz Khan in the Royal Challengers Bangalore squad for the rest of the IPL 10 season. Sarfaraz who hasn’t played a single match in this edition so far got injured during a training pre-season practise session and was carried off the field on a stretcher.

Harpreet Singh was not considered in the auction due to some bizarre reasons as his name was mistaken for Harmeet Singh who was arrested for driving his car on the platforms of Andheri station. Just before the auctions, Harpreet was in tremendous form finishing as the highest run scorer in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. The southpaw accumulated 211 run sin 4 matches at an impressive average of 52.

The youngster has been a part of the IPL before, playing for the Kolkata Knight Riders and Pune Warriors India and will be joining the RCB squad this season. With only 2 wins from 6 encounter, RCB has only 4 points in their kitty and his placed in the 6th position in the points table. They are having a topsy-turvy season thus far but after their win against Kings XI Punjab the other day, they will surely gain confidence from their impressive all-round performance.

Injury has hit the RCB camp ever since the tournament started. KL Rahul was ruled out of the whole tournament following his shoulder injury. He went to London and underwent a surgery and came back to watch a match of his team Royal Challengers Bangalore at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. Captain Virat Kohli also missed the opening 3 matches of the tournament but despite his return, the fortunes of RCB remained the same as they lost 2 more matches on a bounce.

Superstar AB de Villiers has also missed the first couple of games before making a comeback with a blistering 89 of 46 deliveries but again after two matches the same injury aggravated and he had to miss yet another match. With 2 wins in their bag, RCB has to pull their socks up and start performing on a consistent basis if they have to harbour any hopes of qualifying for the Playoffs.
