A popular face in the commentary panel, Harsha Bhogle praised former Indian batsman VVS Laxman’s Hindi commentary and said despite Hindi not being his preferred language he has worked very hard on his commentary and the results are for everyone to see. Bhogle who has witnessed Laxman’s rise in the commentary panel from very close quarters said it was pretty difficult to portray the emotions in a language you are not comfortable with.

Despite the unfavorable conditions hard work has helped him strike a good partnership with Kapil Dev, Aakash Chopra and Virender Sehwag in the Hindi commentary panel and Harsha is enjoying listening to his views.

This is what Harsha Bhogle wrote on his Facebook page, “I have seen at first hand how hard VVS Laxman has worked at his commentary. Hindi was not his natural language and that can come in the way of sharing thoughts precisely. But his humility was admirable and he learnt, he studied, like a student would. He is a natural “giver” and a fine reader of the game, and that helped him. I am enjoying listening to his views now and the fine partnership he has struck with Kapil Dev, Aakash Chopra and especially Sehwag.”

Laxman who retired from international cricket in 2012 was one of the most elegant batsmen during his playing days and was one of the most hardworking guys around. He has taken his ethics to the commentary panel too which is paying off rich dividends. His hard work has helped him make a name for himself as a commentator despite the panel being dominated by some extraordinary commentators.

The elegant right-hander is famously remembered for his extraordinary innings of 281 against the mighty Australians in 2001 where he shared a historic partnership with Rahul Dravid. It was an incredible match at Eden Gardens as India won a memorable match after following on.
