Harsha Bhogle who is widely followed for his views and perspectives into the game has questioned the decision to rested Indian pacer Umesh Yadav for the third T20I against Windies. Along with Umesh, Kuldeep Yadav, and Jasprit Bumrah have been kept out of the squad for the dead rubber on Sunday. In their place, the likes of Siddharth Kaul, Washington Sundar and Shreyas Iyer have been added to the squad.

However, according to Bhogle, resting Umesh doesn’t make any sense. In his view, keeping Jasprit Bumrah and Kuldeep Yadav off the field for the dead rubber is understandable since they have been consecutively playing a lot of cricket in the last few months. However,  Umesh was just making a comeback into the limited-overs team after picking 10 wickets in the Tests against Windies.

Here is Harsha’s tweeted about:

Inconsistency a concern for Umesh

The pacer is not a regular feature in the playing XI. Moreover, in the first T20I, he had leaked 36 runs subsequently, he was dropped from the side for the second T20I. Umesh has also not been picked in the squad for the T20I series against Australia starting November 21.

Harsha believes that there could be an injury concern which we are unaware of. The Indian team, on the other hand, has taken an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match T20I series against Windies and will look to end the series sweeping it clean.

After playing against Windies, India embark on a long tour of Australia where all eyes will be on the Test series which begins on December 6th. They will be on a quest to win their maiden Test series against a wounded Australian team, that has found really difficult to beat even lesser opponents irrespective of the conditions.
