There is little denying the fact that Harsha Bhogle is one of the most popular voices in the game. Plying his trade behind the mic since the 1990s, Bhogle has carved his own place in the cricketing world. But when one is associated with a sport like cricket, in a country like India, he cannot avoid criticism all the time. Time and again, Bhogle who has a huge fan base has faced his fair share of criticism too.

In the latest turn of events, one fan decided to make Bhogle aware of his displeasure with his commentary on Twitter. The individual named Vijayashankar said that he finds the veteran’s voice irritating and went on to cite an example to claim that the commentator is an ‘anchor material’.

“This @BhogleHarsha voice is irritating in an interesting cricket match. May be he is Anchor material? Hardly I understand what he is tries to tell. Recent Golf example on drive. Friends say too! #IndvsAus Always I would switch to Hindi Cricket Channel when he is on,” Vijayashankar wrote.

Harsha soon came across the tweet and did not refrain from replying to it. He, however, did not respond to the criticism but smartly made it clear that he did not use the example the critic was referring to criticise him.

“Never used the golf analogy,” wrote Harsha.

Sacking from BCCI and return:

While Harsha might be a fan-favourite, some of his comments on air had not gone down well with some biggies of the game back in 2016 and he paid the price for it. The veteran commentator was unceremoniously sacked by the BCCI post the 2016 World T20. While the reason behind the sacking is still unknown, rumours suggest that some of his comments during the tournament had made things tough for him.

Later, Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan had taken an indirect shot at Bhogle through Twitter before MS Dhoni added fuel to the fire by agreeing to it. Bhogle finally made his much-awaited return to the commentary box during India’s tour of West Indies in 2017 after the Champions Trophy.
