Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan recently took an indirect dig on cricket analyst Harsha Bhogle after India thumped South Africa in the first T20 International on Sunday. He was very happy with the victory of the visitors and also went on to point out the biased commentary during the course of the game. It was an indirect dig on Harsha which also recalled the famous controversy which came to the fore in 2016. However, Harsha Bhogle seems to be fine this time around and will continue to commentate in the ongoing series between India and South Africa.
Bachchan had come out criticising heavily back in 2016 on Twitter after India defeated Bangladesh in a close encounter sensationally. Moreover, his tweet was endorsed by the then Indian captain MS Dhoni and soon Bhogle was sacked from the commentary panel by the Indian board. He was not allowed to commentate for almost a year for India and IPL matches. Though one of the renowned cricket analysts returned to the fore and is now back to where he belongs.
Will Harsha commentate in IPL?
Amitabh Bachchan’s comments are unlikely to hit Harsha Bhogle professionally this time. According to the reports in Mumbai Mirror, Harsha will not only continue to commentate for Sony in the ongoing T20I series, he will also be a part of the BCCI-approved commentators’ list which means he will be part of the commentary team during the Indian Premier League (IPL) as well. Nevertheless, Bhogle will also cover all the games for India as long as he is in the commentary panel of BCCI.
While the cricket analyst refused to comment anything and get dragged into the controversy, Bachchan did not respond to the text messages of Mumbai Mirror.
The Bollywood actor was attracted a lot of ire from the Indian fans after his last tweet on the commentators. They believed he should only watch the game and let the commentators do their job.
