As we inch closer to the time when an ICC World XI will tour the country of Pakistan for a three-match T20 series, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has made progress in their discussions with the foreign cricketers for the tour. According to sources in the PCB, two big names will be included in the squad that will tour the country during September 10th to 15th.

The main story:

South African batting master class Hashim Amla and spin wizard Imran Tahir are all set to be a part of the tour. Zimbabwe legend and left handed genius Andy Flower is playing a crucial role in gathering some of the big names for the tour. He has already made successful talks with Hashim Amla and Imran Tahir regarding the matter, according to sources. Though Imran Tahir plays for the Proteas, he was born in Pakistan.

The scheduled date for the announcement of the World XI squad is next week. A list of 13 players will be revealed who will be a part of the series, according to the sources.

The World XI tour was originally scheduled for late September, but the Punjab government reportedly advised the PCB to push back the tour dates before the NA-120 by-election on September 17. A report containing the security details on the proposed tour will be delivered soon by the Federation of International Cricketers’ Associations (FICA), which will play an effective role in persuading players whether it is safe to tour.

West Indian all-rounder Darren Sammy is expected to lead the World XI team and Andy Flower is all set to be present as the head coach of the team. The 3 matches will be played in Lahore and there is a possibility of including Karachi as the second venue. International cricket was last played in Pakistan in the year of 2009 barring a visit by Zimbabwe in 2015.
