'He cannot get his family out, and there is a lot happening' - Kevin Pietersen opens up on his conversation with Rashid Khan

Taliban has taken over Afghanistan, and there is a lot of chaos that is prevalent in the country right now. And, star Afghanistan cricketer Rashid Khan’s family is still in Afghanistan and because of all that has been happening, Rashid cannot get his family out right now.

Rashid Khan is currently plying his trade in The Hundred tournament in England. Turning out for the Trent Rockets, the Afghanistan spin bowling sensation is the joint highest wicket-taker in the tournament and has prized out 12 batsmen.

Kevin Pietersen has opened up on the conversation that he had with Rashid Khan. The England cricketer revealed that Rashid Khan is worried as he cannot get his family out of Afghanistan.

“There’s a lot of things that are happening at home. We had a long chat… and he is worried. He can’t get his family out and there’s a lot happening for him,” said Kevin Pietersen on Sky Sports.

Rashid Khan appeals to the world leaders on Twitter

On 10th August 2021, Rashid Khan had tweeted that his country was in chaos, and thousands of people were being martyred on a daily basis. Khan also appealed that his country should not be left in chaos, and Afghanistan wants peace.

“Dear World Leaders! My country is in chaos, thousands of innocent people, including children & women, get martyred everyday, houses & properties being destructed. Thousand families displaced.. Don’t leave us in chaos. Stop killing Afghans & destroying Afghanistan. We want peace,” tweeted Rashid Khan.

Another Afghanistan cricketer, Mohammad Nabi too, tweeted that many people have been left in a vulnerable situation. Nabi added that his foundation is raising funds to help the needy.

“The bloodshed and conflict across Afghanistan has been intensifying, leaving many in vulnerable situation. Mohammed Nabi Foundation is fundraising to provide vital aid to the most needy. With your generous donations we can make a difference,” tweeted Mohammad Nabi.

Rashid Khan has played 5 Tests, 74 ODIs, and 51 T20Is for his country. While he has taken 34 wickets in the whites, he has scalped 140 and 95 wickets, in ODIs and T20Is respectively.
