'He didn't know the real reasons' - Suresh Raina responds to N Srinivasan's comments on him

All was not well in the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) camp last weekend. 13 of their members including two players of the squad were tested positive for COVID-19 and the IPL veteran Suresh Raina flew back to India for personal reasons. All the events happened on Saturday (August 29) and on the same evening, the CSK boss N Srinivasan passed on controversial comments on Raina.

He stated that cricketers some times behave like prima donnas and also added that success gets into their head. However, soon Srinivasan cleared that his statements on Suresh Raina were blown out of context and also went on to say that the franchise will always stand by the left-hander during the tough times. The man himself has opened up about what all transpired and has also responded to CSK owner’s comments.

While speaking to Cricbuzz, the 33-year-old stated that he respects Srinivasan a lot and he is like a father figure to him. Raina has not taken the comments to his heart and also believed that the statements were blown out of proportion. It was also reported that he was not happy with his room ever since he landed in the UAE.

“He is like a father figure to me and he’s always stood by me and is close to my heart. He treats me like his younger son and am sure a lot of what he said was taken out of context. Ek baap apne bacche ko daant sakta hai(A father can scold his son),” he said.

Suresh Raina and CSK want to get over the incident

Moreover, Suresh Raina also cleared that Srinivasan wasn’t aware of the real reasons of his sudden departure from the UAE and both have chatted with each other about it and clarified the issue. “He didn’t know the real reasons for me leaving when he gave those comments. Now he’s been informed about them and he even sent me a message thereafter. We’ve chatted about it and both CSK and I just want to get over with it,” the cricketer further added.

This comes as a good news for the CSK fans as Raina’s relations with the franchise are still good and there is every possibility of him returning to play for them in future.
