The Sunrisers Hyderabad must have been licking their wounds after losing the IPL 2018 finals to Chennai Super Kings. They played without their regular captain David Warner in the tournament, who was banned for a year for his involvement in the ball-tampering scandal in South Africa in 2018.

Though Kane Williamson led admirably and topped the batting charts, the aggression usually associated with Warner as captain was missing. This time around, David Warner is back with the SRH team and eager to go in the IPL 2019, as they play their first match against Kolkata Knight Riders on March 24 in Eden Gardens.

Yusuf Pathan, one of the hardest hitters of the ball, had a resurgence of the sort, as he played some effective cameos for the team, as their batting lineup had a rough time. He has lauded his teammate Warner and is delighted that the Australian is back in the team.

Pathan hails Warner

“He is returning after a long time so many people will come to watch him play again. You may be a fan of SRH or not but everyone enjoys his style of batting. He is a very much entertainer on the field,” Pathan was quoted saying by Times of India.

David Warner led from the front in IPL 2016 when Sunrisers Hyderabad won the title for the first time. He amassed 848 runs, second behind Virat Kohli and lifted the trophy, by beating the RCB in the finals. In 2017, he topped the run charts (641) and smashed a scintillating 59-ball 126 against Kolkata Knight Riders.

“He has always been an entertainer. He always likes to play his shots early. So obviously everyone will look forward to (watch) him and how he plays this time. Wins or losses he always kept himself in touch and kept motivated us. He would always praise if somebody did well and backed up the players.

He may be coming back after one year but it does not feel that he was not there with us last season. He was with us in spirit,” Yusuf further added.
