During a live Instagram session, Brett Lee was questioned over the same and he picked Smith over Kohli. Furthermore, Lee also gave decent reasoning for the same.

Virat Kohli — the current Indian skipper is technically a very sound batsman. He has emerged as a run-machine for his national side and has matched the greatness of legends like Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid. There is no doubt over the fact that Kohli is always a treat to watch for any cricketing fan irrespective of the format.

Coming on to Smith, his stance and technique is quite different from others. However, he has still managed to reap out success in international cricket.

In 2019, he marked his return in international cricket after finishing the sentence for involving in the infamous ball-tampering scandal. Since then, he has certainly turned the tables on the back of his remarkable performances in ICC 2019 World Cup and Ashes 2019.

‘Virat Kohli is a great leader of his side’: Brett Lee

In a freewheeling session, Brett Lee was asked to pick one between Virat Kohli and Steve Smith. To which, he replied that it is always difficult to pick one between the two. The former pacer said that the current India skipper has evolved as a batsman over the last decade. As per him, the Indian cricketer has great leadership qualities and he will surely love to win the IPL one day.

“Kohli is technically sound, he hits through the V, he used to knick off earlier in his career, but it is hard to do that now, he is a great leader of his side, I think he would love to win the IPL,” Lee said.

Talking about Smit, Lee said that he went through some of the hardest time in his cricketing career in the last couple of years. According to the former Aussie speedster, it is great to watch his astounding comeback in international cricket. Moreover, Lee picked Smith over Kohli based on the struggle he faced in the past.

“Steve Smith has been through a lot in the last couple of years, he has seen a rise with the way he played in the last 12 months, he is so fidgety, sometimes you are like just relax mate,” Lee added.

The 43-year-old pointed out that the aforementioned Aussie batsman will be rated equivalent to Sir Don Bradman, who is the all-time batting legend in international cricket.

“At the moment I would choose Smith over Kohli because of what he has been through and what he has to overcome, they are two great players, I think Smith can be as good as Don Bradman, there have been talks of him becoming just like Bradman looking at the numbers,” opined Lee.
