Rajkumar Sharma, Virat Kohli’s childhood coach, has severely hit out at Shahid Afridi for his distasteful remarks towards India and its Honourable Prime Minister Narendra Modi. A couple of days ago, the Khyber Agency-born Afridi went to the Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK) and mentioned that the ‘bigger disease’ than coronavirus is the one in Modi’s mind.

Afridi, the former Pakistan all-rounder, has been a recipient of brickbats even earlier for his controversial remarks. This time around, it hasn’t been any different. Sharma said that Afridi isn’t a character to be taken seriously what he said was uncalled for in the pandemic situation.

“Nobody in Indian cricket team takes him seriously. He was not even taken seriously when he was playing cricket. And he doesn’t deserve to because talking like this is not acceptable at any stage. Indian cricketers are sober and they don’t talk like this,” Sharma was quoted as saying in an exclusive interview to Republic TV on Monday, May 18.

Think Shahid Afridi needs to learn a lot, says Sharma

Sharma called Afridi a ‘negative’ character and reckons that the 40-year-old needs to learn about how to conduct himself. He also thinks that Afridi has plans of becoming a politician as he reckons speaking harsh about India makes one popular in Pakistan.

“They stand for their country but never abuse any other country or their PM. I think Shahid Afridi needs to learn a lot. He is a very negative sort of guy. Virat Kohli never talks about Shahid he is not that important that he should be talked about,” he stated.

“I think Afridi wants to come in politics. Whosoever criticizes or abuses India becomes famous in Pakistan. It is their mentality. Shahid Afridi is moving in that direction. I don’t think anybody will take him seriously from now on,” he added.

Previously, Harbhajan Singh and Yuvraj Singh, who both donated to the Shahid Afridi Foundation, expressed their displeasure over the matter. The duo pledged not to help out the retired all-rounder any time in the future. Even Gautam Gambhir, Shikhar Dhawan, Suresh Raina and many others, lashed out at Afridi for the stern words.
