Jofra Archer, the young fast bowler from England has quite often attracted the spotlight with his on-field performances and he has certainly emerged as the new spearhead for the Three Lions. On several occasions, he has been spotted getting involved in a hilarious banter with cricketers on social media platforms. However, this time he has been bashed by the netizens for showing lack of sportsmanship on the ground in the ongoing Test between England and South Africa.

The Barbadian-born cricketer made his international debut for England earlier this year and in a short span of time, Archer impressed fans and cricket pundits with his toe-crushing yorkers and threatening bouncers. So far, he has donned the national jersey in 6 Tests, 14 ODIs and one T20I in which he has grabbed 49 wickets across the three formats.

Jofra Archer had grabbed the headlines after taking 22 wickets in his four games in the Ashes 2019. However, Archer’s lack of sportsmanship on Day 2 of the series opener against South Africa was the reason for fans getting irked.

Jofra Archer bowls two beamers on Day 2

The instance happened in the penultimate over of Day-2 when Proteas batsman Anrich Nortje was on strike and Archer was the designated bowler. The England pacer bowled two consecutive beamers, although the second delivery was not given a no-ball.

Furthermore, Archer neither apologised for bowling the beamers nor asked Nortje if he was alright after enduring the beamers. It was something that is not acceptable on the cricket ground and Archer’s such behaviour didn’t go down well with the fans, who bashed him upside down.

Coming onto the match, Joe Root and Co failed to perform well with the bat as the whole team was dismissed at a score of 181 runs and were left well short of 103 runs in 1st innings. Kagiso Rabada and Vernon Philander turned out to be the best bowlers for their side, who shared a total of seven wickets between each other.

However, later on, the hosts were also finding it difficult to play against fast bowlers in the second innings as they lost their four wickets in just 20 overs with their openers and skipper being sent back to the pavilion on Day 2 of the Boxing Day Test.
