'He needs to drop himself' - Twitter not happy with Eoin Morgan after yet another failure in IPL 2021

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have resumed their IPL 2021 campaign with a bang. After winning only a couple of matches out of five in the first leg, they have so far won three in four matches. They lost to Chennai Super Kings (CSK) only that too off the last ball of the match. There have been a lot of positives for the franchise in this leg but the captain Eoin Morgan has been disappointing.

The England cricketer is yet to make a mark with the bat. His struggles have been visible right through the second leg, however, the fact that KKR is winning has made life a bit easy for him. But with the T20 World Cup also coming up, the pressure could be increasing on Morgan now with consistent failures.

He would’ve hoped to do well against Punjab Kings (PBKS) on October 1 (Friday) but it wasn’t to be again for Eoin Morgan. The southpaw was pinned in front of the stumps by Mohammed Shami for just two runs and his travails continued this season.

Morgan has scored only 17 runs in four innings

Eoin Morgan‘s numbers in the UAE leg of the IPL 2021 have not been encouraging at all. In four innings so far, he has scored only 17 runs including a duck. Overall, in 11 innings, the left-hander has mustered a tad over 100 runs with as many as three ducks to his name. Even for England, he hasn’t been in good form at all.

In 2021, Morgan has scored only 92 runs in seven innings crossing the 20-run mark only twice. The inaugural edition of Hundred wasn’t kind for him either. The tables need to turn around for him soon and with things getting close in the playoffs race of the IPL 2021, there might be a time when he will have to drop himself from the playing XI.

As of now, with KKR doing extremely well, his place is safe and there could be a couple more chances for him to regain his lost mojo. Meanwhile, the cricket experts and fans weren’t happy with Eoin Morgan and criticised him for his poor show.
