‘He will be one of the Legends of Cricket’ – Harbhajan Singh Lavishes Massive Praises on Babar Azam

Pakistan captain Babar Azam is one of the finest batters going around and his records across formats speak volumes of his sheer brilliance. Be it playing marathon knocks in Test cricket or scoring quick runs in the shortest international format of the game, the right-handed batter has ticked almost all the boxes and is touted to go a long way. Former Indian off-spinner Harbhajan Singh is also of the opinion that the 27-year-old will become a legend of the game.

Notably, several cricket pundits have batted for Babar’s inclusion in the famous Fab-4, an unofficial group of elite batters. As of now, Virat Kohli, Steve Smith, Kane Williamson, and Joe Root are members of the high-profile club. While Babar is relatively younger and inexperienced than all these names, his recent performances have broadened the debate of ‘who’s the world’s best?’

Too Early to Put Babar Azam in the Fab 4: Harbhajan Singh

Speaking on the matter, Harbhajan said it would be too early to put Babar in that elite category but predicted the Pakistan batter will be among the legends of the game going forward.

“I think it is a bit too early to say if he can be in the Fab 4. I don’t even know who are in the Fab 4. But Babar definitely has the quality, he is a proper batsman with so much confidence and technique. Going forward he will be one of the legends of cricket,” Babar told Sportskeeda.

“But now it’s too early to put him in any league. Let him play and keep on scoring more runs and winning games for his team. And talent-wise he is no less than anyone else,” he added. It must be noted that Babar holds the pole position in the ICC rankings for ODI and T20I batters. As far as Test rankings are concerned, he’s placed at the fifth position. Coming to his numbers, Babar currently has 9798 runs in 200 international matches which includes 23 centuries.
