After the shocking announcement of Ravindra Jadeja replacing MS Dhoni as the captain of the team was made by the Chennai Super Kings, Kasi Viswanathan, the CEO of the franchise, shed light upon MS Dhoni’s continual with the team and his future with the side.

CSK, through their official website, dropped a bomb announcing that Dhoni will no more be their captain from the upcoming IPL 2022 season. However, the franchise mentioned no other details about the development. But they did mention that Dhoni will continue to represent the franchise ‘forever and beyond’. But questions started to pop up about the veteran’s future in the cash-rich only to be denied by CSK CEO.

“No, I don’t think (this is going to be his last season). He will carry on,” Viswanathan told The Indian Express. “We have always respected the decision of MS. He has been a pillar of strength for us. He will continue to be a pillar of strength and he will guide Jaddu (Jadeja) and the other members of the team.

“He is expecting a smooth transition from him to Jaddu and that’s why he has taken the decision. As a captain and player, who has always cared for CSK, he must have taken the decision in the best interest of CSK,” he added.

Dhoni plays only for CSK since his retirement from international cricket

During CSK’s felicitation ceremony in 2021, Dhoni had mentioned that he would play his last IPL game for the franchise at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium (Chepauk) in Chennai in front of the fans and supporters. Adding to it, he also mentioned, in his witty form, that he can’t say if that would happen anytime soon, or five years down the line.

Having announced his international retirement in August 2020, Dhoni currently plays only for CSK. The yellow jersey is the only one that he has been sporting since the end of the 2019 World Cup. But since this year the IPL is not happening in Chennai, and the tournament is being hosted by Maharashtra, there’s a sigh of relief that Dhoni will be seen donning the yellow jersey next year as well.
