The past few months have been great for Karnataka’s KL Rahul. Post India’s oust from 2019 World Cup, KL Rahul has emerged as an indispensable part of the Indian side by delivering consistent performances with his willow. The right-hander is amongst the only few Indian batsmen to have centuries in all formats of the game.

Along with donning the batsman’s role, Rahul has also emerged as a decent wicketkeeper for the Indian side. The right-hander has shown immense character to cement his place in the limited-overs side. Be it his batting consistency or glovework– Rahul has earned accolades from the cricketing fraternity for his recent performances for the Men in Blue.

After retaining his place in the Indian side, Rahul went on to solve India’s middle-order misery and also showcased his batting expertise by batting at several positions. Ahead of Rishabh Pant, Rahul took on the gloves during the ODI series against Australia and New Zealand.

India’s current first-choice wicketkeeper in the coloured jersey was recently involved in an Instagram live where he revealed the name of the cricketer he would prefer to bat for his life. Rahul picked his captain and close friend Virat Kohli and heaped praise on the current Indian skipper for his consistency to score runs across all the formats.

KL Rahul was set to lead Kings XI Punjab in IPL 2020

“I will bat myself as I value my life the most. I think I would pick Virat (Kohli) because I know, everybody knows he is a great player. We share a great friendship and he will give it all to save my life,” Rahul told TV presenter Suhail Chandok on Instagram Live hosted by Red Bull.

Apart from the national side, Rahul and Kohli also have shared the dressing room at Royal Challengers Bangalore. Rahul, at the moment, is tied up with Kings XI Punjab and he was set to lead the franchise in the thirteenth edition of the IPL.

However, due to the outbreak of COVID-19, the tournament has been postponed indefinitely and its commencement looks bleak at the moment. The Punjab-franchise and their fans will have to wait for a while to see Rahul leading their side IPL 2020.
