Sri Lankan legend Kumar Sangakkara has expressed his views on the tense situation currently prevailing in his country. The country and the countrymen are going through a bad financial crisis, and as a result, the price of goods and services has hit the roof.

Under such circumstances, the people of the country have been protesting against the Sri Lankan Government. Sangakkara took to his Instagram to express his feelings about the state of affairs and penned down a very emotional note.

“Sri Lankans are going through one of the toughest times imaginable. It is heartbreaking to see the despair of people and families as they struggle to make it through the day, and each day for them gets harder. The people are raising their voices and asking for what is needed: a solution,” Sangakkara wrote on his official Instagram handle.

Kumar Sangakkara is currently in India with the Rajasthan Royals for IPL 2022

The 44-year-old, who is currently in India as part of IPL 2022, supported the public and raised his voice against the government, asking them to take immediate action and resolve the crisis.

“While some are reacting in resentment and anger to that voice, others are trying to take undue advantage of it. The right choice is to listen to the people, put aside destructive personal and political agendas and act in the best interests of Sri Lanka. The people are not an enemy. Sri Lanka is its people. Time is fast running out, the people and their future must be protected and provided for,” he continued.

In lieu of the events, the Sri Lankan government had imposed a curfew in the county, followed by the President declaring a public emergency. Sangakkara is serving the Rajasthan Royals as the Director of Cricket of the franchise. His team has started off well in IPL 2022 under the leadership of Sanju Samson. Sangakkara has also captained his national side and led his team to the finals of the iconic 2011 World Cup.
