Team Pakistan is all set to lock horns with Scotland in a short T20I series. The series is a part of the English tour of the Sarfraz Ahmed-led side. The two matches will be played next week and the Men in Green have already started off with their preparations for the same. Currently, the Pakistani team is the number one ranked side in the shortest format of the game.

This is a very big achievement in itself considering the fact that their players do not get to play the high action T20 cricket in the Indian Premier League. Pakistan will enter the series against Scotland as the numero uno T20I side. However, they will have a scare of losing their top spot in the rankings. At present, they have a healthy lead in the list of teams in the rankings table. With 130 points to their name, they sit at the top, and are followed by Australia and India.

If Pakistan wins the series against Scotland with a margin of 2-0, they will maintain their top spot with a point added to their kitty. However, if the series gets leveled by the two sides, Pakistan will lose as many as 3 points. However, they will still maintain their top spot with a point more than Australia in the rankings. In the third case, and perhaps the most unlikely one, if the Men in Green lose the series by 0-2, they will slip to number 3 position with 123 points to their name. In this case, they will fall below team India in the list.

Commenting on the form, the visitors faced an innings defeat in their most recent Test match against England. Prior to that, they had registered a thumping win against the same England side in the Lord’s Test. On the other hand, the Kyle Coetzer led Scots had a heartbreak at the World Cup Qualifiers 2018. However, in their conditions, they can be very lethal. Last year, they had beaten Sri Lanka in a practice game before the ICC Champions Trophy.

Here is the Pakistan squad for the upcoming series against Scotland:

Fakhar Zaman, Ahmed Shehzad, Haris Sohail, Shoaib Malik, Asif Ali, Hussain Talat, Sarfraz Ahmed (Captain) (WK), Fahim Ashraf, Shadab Khan, Muhammad Nawaz, Muhammad Amir, Hassan Ali, Rahat Ali, Usman Shanwari, Shaheen Shah Afridi.
