Indian captain Virat Kohli is one of the best batsmen in the world right now and is currently the King of Limited over cricket. The chase master has got all the shots in the book and has dispatched even the best bowlers in the world to all parts of the ground. But ever wondered what’s the cost for one blade of the modern great?
King Kohli not only a prolific batsman but also one of the most talked about sporting personalities in the world. Many wonder exactly how much that flashy MRF blade costs. Kohli started out with a modest BDM bat and then progressed to a Nike blade, before finally sporting the MRF logo with a massive endorsement deal. That said, the cost of a bat does not depend on the name on it but the number of grains on it.
According to the reports by Cricwizz, the Delhi-lad uses a Grade A English Willow with a curved blade which costs about INR 20,000. The cost is directly proportional to the number of grains or the lines on the surface of willow. These lines help in pointing out the age of the bat. Therefore, more of the number of grains on the blade, stronger is the stroke from the willow. Usually, the number of grains on the bat is within the range of 6-12 but Kohli uses a willow of the order of 8-12. Hence, the price of one bat of Virat Kohli’s is within the range of INR 17k-23k.
MSD to alter his bat dimensions
Coming to the brand value of Kohli’s bat, it has currently overtaken that of MS Dhoni‘s Spartan blade. MRF bagged Virat Kohli for sporting the MRF logo on his willow with a whopping sum of 8 crores. However, when it comes to the new regulations made by Marleybone Cricket Club (MCC), MSD might have to alter his bat dimensions to abide by the new rules. That said, Kohli’s Willow falls well within the new specifications approved by the committee and thus will not undergo any changes.
