Carlos Brathwaite shot to fame the moment he smashed Ben Stokes for a whirlwind of sixes at the Eden Gardens. While the big hitting clinched the match for the Windies, it also ensured that they had won their 2nd ever World T20 title. Having been signed by the Delhi Daredevils in the 2016 auction, Brathwaite seems to be one of the hottest properties in T20 cricket at the moment.

While his liaison with the Daredevils is rumored to be around $ 1 million, it has been reported that up to three teams are chasing the West Indian star. The Sydney Sixers and Hobart Hurricanes are two of the teams keenly pursuing the 27-year-old, according to The Daily Telegraph.

The Hobart Hurricanes, the Big Bash team based out of the Island of Tasmania has revealed to have a massive interest in Brathwaite as they look to replace all-rounder and West Indies skipper Darren Sammy.

“We made contact with him (Brathwaite) before the World Cup,” Michael Roberts, Hurricanes recruitment officer, told The Daily Telegraph on Friday (May 6). “There’s a fair bit of interest in him now not just in Big Bash but world cricket. The ball is in his court now. We’re waiting for him to come back with further discussions.”

“You need these internationals to come in and really embrace what Big Bash is about without the ego … from what I’ve heard about Carlos, he’s the perfect Big Bash model player,” Roberts added.

Having never played in the BBL, Brathwaite has publicly declared his desire to play in Australia’s burgeoning Twenty20 competition.

“That’s also a dream,” Brathwaite told The Daily Telegraph in the aftermath of the World T20. “I’m available. Whatever opportunities arise, I’m available.”
