Some exciting contest was witnessed in the T20 World Cup 2021 semi-final clash between Pakistan and Australia. Having posted 176/4 while batting first in Dubai, the Men in Green looked pleased. They even dismissed Australian skipper Aaron Finch for a duck. However, David Warner led Australia’s chase with a remarkable counter-attacking knock. The southpaw played some delightful shots and sent some tension in the Pakistan camp.

Just when he looked all set to play a big knock, Shadab Khan ended his stay in the middle. It was the first ball of the 11th over and the game was hanging in balance. Shadab, who had already taken a couple of wickets by that time, fired a short and wide delivery. While Warner looked to send the ball over the fence, he couldn’t connect and wicketkeeper Mohammad Rizwan collected the ball.

‘Unlucky’ David Warner goes back to the dressing room

Pakistan fielders subsequently made a strong appeal and the umpire was happy to raise his finger. Interestingly, Warner had an option of taking a review but he didn’t do so. This means the batter felt the ball has hit his bat. However, the replay showcased a different story. When the dismissal was examined through the ultra edge, the ball didn’t seem to hit the bat. There was a flat line in the ultra edge which suggested Pakistan have got a bonus.

Had Warner decided to go for a review, he would have continued his knock. However, an error in judgment brought an end to his stay in the middle. As a result, the 34-year-old was dismissed after scoring a 30-ball 49. His innings was studded by three boundaries and as many sixes.

Earlier in the game, Australia invited Pakistan to bat after winning the toss at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. The Men in Green embraced the challenge and put up a batting exhibition. Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam continued their sensational run and scored 71 runs for the first wicket. The former even scored a half-century.

Besides him, Fakhar Zaman also breached the 50-run mark. In reply, Australia scored runs quickly but also lost wickets at regular intervals. Hence, it would be interesting to see which side joins New Zealand in the final.

Meanwhile, let’s look at how Twitterati reacted to David Warner’s dismissal: –
