Sarfaraz Ahmed was stripped of captaincy on Friday by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). Pakistan’s 0-3 loss to Sri Lanka at home in the T20I series has led to the board taking strict steps. Sarfaraz has also lost his place in the side as the PCB chairman Ehsan Mani cleared that he won’t be picked in the Test and T20I side for the upcoming Australia tour. With age not on his side, there have been speculations that Sarfaraz might soon retire from cricket.

However, his wife Khushbaht Sarfaraz has dismissed all the speculations stating that her husband is a fighter and will make a strong comeback soon. Interestingly, she also brought up MS Dhoni‘s retirement issue asking if the veteran has retired despite being 38 years old. Dhoni was expected to hang his boots after the World Cup. But to everyone’s surprise, he has taken a break from the game and is yet to play a game since then.

As far as Sarfaraz Ahmed is concerned, his wife stressed that he is only 32 years old and felt that he can play freely now without any burden. She also revealed that the couple knew of the sacking three days earlier itself and Sarfaraz himself conveyed the news to his wife.

Sarfaraz Ahmed is a fighter

“We knew this (sacking) three days ago. It is not the end of the road for him. He will be able to play burden-free now. Why should he retire now? He is only 32. How old is Dhoni? Has he retired at his current age?” Khushbaht said while speaking to Deccan Chronicle.

As far as MS Dhoni is concerned, certain reports are coming out as usual about his international future. Recently, the new elected BCCI President Sourav Ganguly cleared that he will talk to the selectors regarding the same on October 24 in a meeting. Reports also surfaced recently stating that the Indian cricket has moved on from the former Indian captain and the selectors are set to convey the same message to Ganguly in the scheduled meeting.
