Dhaka Dynamites, in the upcoming edition of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), has suffered a major blow to their campaign as they miss out on the services of Australia’s legendary all-rounder Shane Watson, who suffered an abrupt muscle calf injury.

The blow to the defending champions of the league came just a few days prior to the start of the tournament. The coach of the Dhaka Dynamites, former Bangladeshi player Khaled Mahmud Shujon confirmed the reports of Watson’s unavailability for the upcoming season of the country’s premier T20 tournament.

Mashud, who stated his frustration on the loss cited out that it is their bad luck that Watson had to miss out on their top performer just before the start of the tournament.

“It is our bad luck; Watson has fallen into a sudden cuff muscle structure and will not be here for us,” commented the coach of the Dhaka Dynamite according to BDCrictime.

Kieron Pollard called in as his replacement

Khaled Mashud then disclosed about the possible replacement for the Australian. According to reports, hard-hitting West Indian all-rounder Kieron Pollard is now highly likely to replace Shane Watson in the fifth edition of Bangladesh Premier League. “Actually there is no time now to look for alternatives. We will go forward with Pollard now,” added Mashud.

With Pollard coming in, he would bring in a huge wealth of experience in the shortest format of the game and franchise cricket. Pollard has represented for the Adelaide Strikers in the Big Bash League down under. In the Pakistan Super League, he remains an integral part of the Karachi Kings while in the Carribean Premier League, he represents the Barbados Tridents.

Since the third season of the Indian Premier League, the Ambanis have constantly retained the hard-hitting all-rounder for Mumbai Indians after spending a fortune during the 2010 edition. It may be noted that Pollard has previously represented the Dhaka Gladiator in the previous seasons of the league.
