Hyderabadi girl Sindhuja enters the USA cricket team

The USA cricket team is keen to qualify for the World T20 and Sindhuja too is optimistic of representing USA in the World Cup one fine day.

Sindhuja Reddy Salguti a 26-year-old cricketer from Hyderabad has bee selected in the United States of America’s International cricket team, which will participate in the World T20 qualifiers in August. Sindhuja married Siddhartha Reddy a few years ago and a step that seemed like ruining her cricketing career gave birth to a new opportunity, which she grabbed with both hands.

Sindhuja is a wicketkeeper who opens the batting and after shifting to the USA she slowly began playing for local clubs. Minimum requirement for a participation in the trials was a two-year stay in USA and she was three months short of that mark. Yet she was allowed to take a shot at the trials as the selectors were impressed with her talent.

Sindhuja started playing cricket during her schooling days, when she was 12 years old. She trained under Vijay Kumar and from there on, she also trained with former Indian Women’s cricket team coach Purnima Rau. Sindhuja represented Hyderabad in under-14, under-16 and under-19 levels before representing Hyderabad in the Ranji Trophy for 5 years.

She completed her schooling and further education in Hyderabad and shared the affinity she has with the beautiful city. She also thanked all her coaches who helped her groom over the coursse of time.

Sindhuja went to the St Anthony’s Middle School in Himayath Nagar and completed her Engineering at Keshav Memorial Institute of Engineering (KMIT) in Narayanguda. She now aims to contribute as much as possible for the USA’s cricket team and she will be donning their jersey for the first time in the preparatory tours to Trinidad and London where the team will play one T20 match in Trinidad and two in London.

The USA cricket team is keen to qualify for the World T20 and Sindhuja too is optimistic of representing USA in the World Cup one fine day. “I am looking forward to representing the USA in the World Cup. We need to qualify for the T20 World Cup. Hopefully we will do that and the dream of playing in an ICC World Cup will come true,” she said in an interview with Telengana Today.
