The Chennai Super Kings (CSK), once again, have managed to make it to the playoffs of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Rather, they look set to make it to the top two and will get an extra shot at the finals. Also, with the first qualifier to be played at Chepauk, they could well make it to the finals even this year. MS Dhoni was the architect of yet another victory on Wednesday and Harsha Bhogle once again tried to open him up with his smart questions at the presentation ceremony.

CSK reclaimed the top position with their ninth win of the season in 13 matches and are almost certain to hold on to that spot. MS Dhoni and Suresh Raina batted brilliantly to propel the team to an above par score on a turning Chepauk pitch. And then the spinners literally choked the Delhi Capitals (DC) by sharing a total of eight wickets between them.

Dhoni’s knock of 44* runs off just 22 balls changed the momentum of the game completely and not surprisingly, he was awarded the Man of the Match. In the presentation ceremony, Harsha Bhogle asked him about the team’s amazing consistency while also assuring him cheekily that the franchise won’t release him if he tells the secret in the public.

Dhoni’s smart counter answer

MS Dhoni, being MS Dhoni, came up with the best possible response to the question. With a smile on his face, he duly refused to reveal the ‘trade secret’ and also cheekily said that he thought CSK would retain him. “It’s a bit of a demotion, I thought they will retain me. I will have to go and talk to the owners, ask if I will get retained or not. But I am not going to tell the trade secret,” Chennai’s Thala said.

This is not the first time when Harsha has tried to get into Dhoni’s mind. He had asked a similar question after April 23 game between CSK and SRH when the Men in Yellow had thumped the Orange Army by six wickets at the Chepauk. Even they Dhoni had come up trumps saying, “If I tell everyone what it is, then they (CSK) won’t buy me at the auctions. It’s a trade secret. The crowd support and franchise’s support are key of course.”
