Ever since the BCCI removed Virat Kohli from the ODI captaincy, various theories had started to float around. It was also reported that India’s Test skipper has asked for a break and will not be available for the ODI series against South Africa. At the same time, Rohit Sharma, the newly minted white-ball skipper of India, was injured and got ruled out of the upcoming Test series against the Proteas.
All of this pointed to just one thing and that was the alleged rift between two legends of Indian cricket – Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. With so many reports and theories floating around, it needed Kohli himself to come out and clarify everything in the matter. The 33-year-old attended the press conference ahead of the team’s departure to the rainbow nation and had to respond to the inevitable question again.
Kohli was asked if everything is fine between him and Rohit Sharma and the man was quick to quash all the reports of the rift between them. Rather the Indian skipper in the longest format went on to say that the team will miss Rohit’s experience during the Test series. He also stated that he is tired of saying that there is no rift between them.
“There is no problem between me and Rohit Sharma. I’m tired of saying this things for over 2.5 years.Whatever I’ll do will never be to take the team downwards. There is no issue between Rohit and me,” Kohli said during the press conference.
