The latest match of IPL 2022 between RCB and GT saw star batter Virat Kohli roaring back to form with his match-winning 73 off 54. The knock turned out to be very special for the batter and his team when they were in search of two crucial points. After bagging the first Player of the Match award of the season, Kohli spoke on how he dealt with his rough patch throughout the season and added how he sweated out 90 minutes in nets before the game.

The former RCB skipper quoted that he was disappointed as he couldn’t do much for his side this season because that is what bothers him and not stats in particular. Kohli along with Faf du Plessis (44 off 38) laid a strong foundation for RCB to grab in an easy run chase before Glenn Maxwell added the perfect finishing touch with his 40* off 18.

“I can keep going. It was an important game. I was disappointed that I haven’t done much for my team and that is what bothers me, not the stats. Today was a game where I was able to create an impact for the team. Puts us in a good position. There are expectations because of the performances that you have put in. You need to keep the perspective right. You can forget the process in order to live up to the expectations. I have worked really hard. I batted 90 minutes in the nets yesterday. I came in very free and relaxed,” said Kohli during the post-match presentation.

I am forever grateful for all the love that I have never seen before: Virat Kohli

The 33-year-old also mentioned the fact that he is extremely grateful for the support he has received from the fans in his low time. Kohli admitted that he has been extended immense support this season which he has never witnessed before. Kohli’s terrific innings pushed RCB to win the game by eight wickets.

“I won’t be standing here being ungrateful for all that I have achieved. With the very first shot off Shami, I felt I could hit length balls over the fielder’s head. I knew that tonight was the night when I could kick on. It has been wonderful that I have got so much support in this edition. I am forever grateful to all the love that I have never seen before,” he added.
