Bangladesh all-rounder Nasir Hossain got off the mark without even facing the Australian attack yet. The cricketer is making a comeback after a gap of 2 years and has played 17 Test matches so far for Bangladesh. He wasn’t picked for the Champions Trophy earlier this year and was mostly in and out of the side in all the three formats of the game.

The talented right-hand batsman attended a press conference in Mirpur ahead of the start of the series and was at his best. On being asked about the difference before being dropped and after the snub, Hossain said that he didn’t have a moustache when he was dropped.

His answer surely made the atmosphere a bit light. Nasir then answered on a serious note, “Not much difference. I was dropped… It is normal that a player will be dropped if he doesn’t play well. And it is also true that there is a possibility of returning if he plays well. I tried to play well when I was dropped. There were a lot of mistakes in my career. I could’ve played bigger innings. I was a bit casual. Now I try to stay at the crease as long as I can,” he said.

Hossain has scored 971 runs from 17 Tests in his career at an average of 37.34, along with a hundred and six fifties. In ODIs, the all-rounder has collected 1262 runs from 59 games at an average of 32.35. He has the same number of fifties and hundreds in ODIs too. Once a regular in the shortest format of the game, the 25-year-old has represented Bangladesh in 31 T20Is and scored a couple of fifties. He has a total of 38 international wickets, playing for Bangladesh.

Humorous

He was at his funny best, just before leaving the press conference, Nasir made another uncanny remark. Looking at the phones of the journalists put up for recording, he said, “There is not even a good mobile phone that I will take away,” he left the press conference laughing.
