Former Indian batter Ajay Jadeja has come out hard at MS Dhoni for ‘white-anting’ Ravindra Jadeja during Chennai Super Kings’ six-wicket defeat against Lucknow Super Giants in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022. Ajay insisted that Dhoni was majorly taking the leadership decisions in the game and the same would have made the designated skipper, Ravindra Jadeja, feel unconfident about his captaincy.

It must be noted that Dhoni, who had been CSK’s captain since the inaugural edition of IPL in 2008, stepped down from the role on the eve of IPL 2022. Jadeja was handed over the reins and many were intrigued to see how the all-rounder operates as a captain. After all, the 33-year-old is farely new to this territory. The start of his tenure hasn’t really been a fruitful one as CSK lost their first two games of the season.

MS Dhoni continued to run the whole game: Ajay Jadeja

While several different opinions have come on Jadeja’s captaincy, Ajay blames Dhoni for virtually taking over the reins from the southpaw. “It is wrong, there is no doubt about that. See, there is a no bigger fan of Dhoni than I am, and that’s because of his temperament,” Jadeja said on Cricbuzz.

“If this was the last match of the group where there was a do-or-die situation in terms of qualification, then I could’ve probably understood that you would want to take over the reins because it is an important phase. But if it happens only in the second match of the season,” he added.

Ajay further stated that it will not be easy for Jadeja to operate as a skipper if Dhoni intervenes with his inputs. “See, I’m not saying this because it’s Ravindra Jadeja. But even as a cricket fan, it looked a little odd. He (Jadeja) was standing right there and you continued to run the whole game. See, Dhoni is a very big player and I don’t like saying it out loud. But I didn’t like what I saw today,” he added.
