Senior wicketkeeper-batter Wriddhiman Saha has performed well for the new entrants Gujarat Titans (GT) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022. To note, he replaced Australian batter Matthew Wade in the playing XI and has played some good knocks for the Titans. The right-handed batter stroked a couple of handy knocks, including a half-century against the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) to set up a big run chase.

Saha has been playing the IPL right from the first season in 2008. He can hit a long ball as well despite his short stature. The right-handed batter has shown that apart from hitting boundaries, he can milk the ball for singles and doubles as well. The wicketkeeper-batter will want to continue his run of form for the new entrants as the tournament progresses.

I have the potential to score quick runs: Wriddhiman Saha

Speaking to a set of journalists recently, Saha said, “I have always preferred to play the shorter formats since my childhood considering my style of the game. It is true that I don’t have a build like Chris Gayle, Andre Russell, and [MS] Dhoni Bhai and cannot play shots like them but I have the potential to score quick runs for the team in the powerplay and not think about personal milestones. I have done this consistently.”

Talking about his performance in IPL 2022 so far, the right-handed batter has amassed 154 runs in five matches at an average of 30.80. However, the wicketkeeper-batter has emphasized the fact that his best is yet to come.

“So far, I think I have delivered 50-60 percent of my potential. I have failed a couple of times where I could have scored some runs and put the team in a better position but will hope to make up for it in the upcoming matches if I get the opportunity,” Saha added.

Meanwhile, the new entrants GT will take on the five-time champions Mumbai Indians (MI) in their next group stage match of IPL 2022. To note, both MI and GT will face off for the first time in IPL 2022.
