Former India cricket Dinesh Karthik, who is a part of the commentary panel for the ongoing England-India Test series, exclusively interviewed Rohit Sharma ahead of the second Test. The conversation unfolded some interesting aspects about the opener’s first selection, his upbringing, dealing with pressure, and much more. However, when asked about the lazy elegance of his game, Sharma disagreed with the thought.

Rohit Sharma is known for dominating the opposition on the field once he gets going. He is renowned for playing straight drives, late cuts, and pull shots with certain finesse and aura. But when Karthik asked him about people saying that he brings the lazy elegance on the ground and looks so off the field as well, Sharma seemed to have not liked the term at all. He pointed that one cannot be lazy whilst playing a sport and then go on to get an upper edge against the opposition.

“When you’re playing a sport you cannot be lazy as simple as that you know maybe it may sound or it may look on television but if you’re lazy you cannot achieve what you want to achieve on the field you have to be at it like I said just now you have to be ahead of the game and you cannot be ahead of your opposition if you’re lazy,” Rohit said in an Interview of Sky Sports Cricket.

You can’t hit that pull shot being lazy when there are guys bowling 145 plus: Rohit Sharma

Rohit Sharma has walked a long path from where he started. It is known to all that the turning point in his journey of success was when he started taking the opening guard for India. Since then he grew from strength to strength and has dominated white-ball cricket. He thus feels that hitting a pull shot to world-class bowlers who have considerable speed is not possible for a cricketer if he is lazy.

“You can’t hit that pull shot when there are guys bowling 145 plus and all that you can’t be lazy you’ll get hit on your head so I don’t think people understand that but yeah I mean it’s it’s fine they’ve been talking about this since I started playing for India oh he’s got lazy elegance and I don’t understand this term lazy elegance, there’s nothing called lazy elegance.” Rohit Sharma added.
