The tenth match of the IPL 2020 turned out to be an absolute run-scoring fest. In the battle of Virat Kohli’s Royal Challengers and Rohit Sharma’s Mumbai Indians, the former was able to clinch the encounter in a dramatic Super Over at Dubai.

Both teams posted a sizeable 201-run total on the scoreboard. The match ultimately was decided by a Super Over where the Kohli-De Villiers duo hunted down a modest 8-run target against Jasprit Bumrah.

Apart from the boundary-hitting carnage by AB de Villiers, Ishan Kishan and Kieron Pollard, RCB’s Washington Sundar also gained accolades for his economical spell. During MI’s run-chase, he set the tone for Kohli’s men by giving away just seven runs off three overs and taking the crucial wicket of Rohit Sharma in the Powerplay.

Very glad that the captain has got so much confidence: Washington Sundar

Reacting to his impressive spell, Sundar said that he was ‘happy’ that the team management gave him an opportunity to bowl in the early stage. “Feeling really good, I did some planning coming to this game, and I was very happy I was given this role and I enjoy bowling in the Powerplay,” the 20-year-old said in the press conference.

“Very glad that the captain has got so much confidence and the management. The challenge is to keep doing this, there are still a lot more games coming up and I should be able to do this and win games for the RCB,” he added.

Talking about RCB’s bowling in the Super Over, speedster Navdeep Saini emerged as their talisman with his brilliance. He mixed it up by bowling yorkers and going full and wide to curb MI to a meagre 7-run total.

“Navdeep has been amazing, not just this year… last couple of years also he been very good and he has been going from strength-to-strength, so to bowl such an over (19th over) with two set batsmen and also when Hardik and Pollard were at the crease in the Super Over, to be able to to give just 7 runs is amazing, shows so much character and how much he has got that hunger,” Sundar heaped praise on Saini’s impactful show.
