Pakistan batter Imam-ul-Haq has said that he is a huge fan of Indian skipper Rohit Sharma. He also said that the ‘Hitman’ is more God-gifted than Virat Kohli. Rohit is one of the best openers in the modern-day limited-overs format with the potential of single-handedly taking the game away from the opposition.

Justifying the reason behind saying Rohit is better than Kohli, Imam said that he is left spellbound seeing Rohit’s timing when he is well set. The Pakistan opener added that even he wishes to give performances like Rohit Sharma.

“I feel the talent that God has given Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli probably doesn’t have. I have seen both of them play, but it really feels like a replay is going on the way Rohit Sharma plays. He has a lot of time and I realized the true meaning of ‘time’ when I was fielding at point,” Imam told Samaa News.

“He is the kind of player who can change the game in a matter of two seconds. Once he is set, he hits at will. I wish to give performances like him,” he added.

Rohit holds numerous limited-overs records to his name as he is the only batter to hit three double centuries in One Day Internationals and a record four T20I tons. His highest individual score of 264 is still unbeaten in ODIs and he also remains the top run-getter in T20 Internationals, having amassed 3,379 runs from 128 matches.

Kohli, on the other hand, has been India’s champion batter across formats and has so far amassed over 23,000 international runs. He has 43 ODI centuries to his name and is just seven away from surpassing the legendary Sachin Tendulkar. The batting icon was also adjudged the Player of the Tournament in the 2014 and 2016 editions of the ICC T20 World Cup.

Both Rohit and Kohli have a task at hand against arch-rivals Pakistan when they lock horns in the Asia Cup 2022 fixture on August 28.
