The debate whether the Indian Premier League (IPL) should continue or not has gathered a lot of steam. India is experiencing a massive surge in Covid-19 cases, and several cricketers have offered their opinion regarding the matter.

And not one to miss out, outspoken former England cricketer Michael Vaughan has lent his thoughts too, regarding the matter. Vaughan was of the opinion that the Indian Premier League (IPL) should continue to be held.

Vaughan also added that the joy that the tournament brings to billions of people in these awful times is really important. He also added that he finds it difficult to understand how players from England and Australia pulled out of games in South Africa, but are plying their trade in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

The 14th edition of the IPL will conclude on 30th May 2021

The 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) commenced on 9th April 2021 and will last for more than 7 weeks. The summit clash of the 14th season of the IPL will be held on 30th May 2021.

Currently, the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) side is occupying the top position in the points table. The three-time IPL champions have won 4 out of the 5 matches that they have played in the tournament and are looking in ominous form this year.

On the other hand, the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) side has experienced an extremely poor run in the 2021 season of the IPL. The ‘Orange Army’ has managed to win just a solitary match thus far in the tournament, and is languishing at the last place in the points table.

Shikhar Dhawan has emerged as the highest run-scorer in the 14th edition of the IPL. The Delhi Capitals’ left-hander has scored 259 runs in the 5 innings that he has played and has scored his runs at an average of 51.80.

On the other hand, Bangalore pacer Harshal Patel is the owner of the Purple Cap. The right arm pacer has scalped 15 wickets and has picked them up at an excellent average of 11.13.
