The 2021 Ashes series will commence on 8th December 2021. And, ahead of this monumental clash between Australia and England, the skipper of the Australian Test team, Tim Paine has stated that he contacted Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison to share some messages about the tour.
The 36-year-old stated that he has had ‘a little bit’ of contact with the Australian PM, and added that Morrison is keen to understand the issues from the perspective of the players. Paine also revealed that he shared some text messages with the ‘boss’ of Australia.
“I’ve had a little bit of contact with him, but I have over my period. He always touches base. He was keen to find out what the sticking points might be from a player’s perspective. I shared a few text messages with, I suppose, the boss. He loves his cricket,” said Paine as quoted by Fox Sports.
The cricket boards are working to get everyone the best conditions: Tim Paine
Tim Paine also stated that Cricket Australia (CA) wants to make sure that the ‘conditions’ are good for cricket to be played. The Aussie skipper also added that both Cricket Australia (CA) and the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) have worked together to get the best conditions for the players.
Paine further revealed that most of the England players will ‘commit’ to fly to the land of the kangaroos for The Ashes this year, and concluded by stating that Australia is likely to face a strong England cricket team.
“Most, if not all, things that were asked for have been delivered. Cricket Australia wants the conditions to be good. The boards and the governments were working together to get everyone the best conditions. I’m hearing a lot of their players will commit. We will see a really strong England side,” concluded Tim Paine.
The first Test of the 2021 Ashes series will be played at The Gabba in Brisbane. The previous Ashes series that was held in the year 2019 resulted in a 2-2 draw.
