Prithvi Shaw is one of the finest young batting talents in India currently. However, the young Mumbai batsman hasn’t got proper opportunities since making his Test debut in 2018. He scored a century on debut and became the second-youngest centurion in the history of Indian cricket. But then he got injured and faced a ban as he failed a doping test.
Shaw had revealed during this time that he got the support from former Indian batsman and his childhood idol, Sachin Tendulkar. Recently, the latter also admitted that he has spoken to Prithvi Shaw several times over the years. Sachin praised Shaw calling him a very talented player while also stating that he has helped the youngster in tackling on and off the field issues.
“Yes, it’s true. I have had a number of interactions over the years with Prithvi. He is a very talented player and I am happy to help him. I spoke to him about cricket and also about life beyond the cricket field,” he was quoted as saying by the Times of India.
Sachin Tendulkar keeps the chat confidential
Upon being asked what were the discussions, Sachin Tendulkar said that is confidential. He said he won’t reveal it as he thinks its important to keep conversations between him and a junior player confidential. He further stated that if Shaw wanted to reveal, that is his choice and he doesn’t have a problem with that.
“I believe if a youngster has approached me and sought guidance, there should be an element of confidentiality attached to it, at least from my side. So, I would not like to tell you what the discussions were. That’s fine. If Prithvi wants to speak about it, it’s his choice, the 47-year-old added.
Sachin Tendulkar also said that he has always been open to the idea of teaching a youngster about the game. Interestingly, he also mentioned that he has spoken to many individuals separately and guided them. “I have spoken and guided a lot of youngsters at an individual level. I have maintained that if anyone feels that I can be of any help in guiding them about their game, I am always open to the idea,” the master blaster said.
