The whole of India is desperately waiting for the moment when Indian Air Force Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman sets his foot in the country. The Air Force pilot was captured by Pakistan after his plane crashed on the other side of LoC while on a mission, sending the entire nation into utter shock. The clip of his landing where he was seen getting beaten up by the mob had made the Indians fear for the worst.

Hours later, the Pakistan government released another video to show Abhinandan was being given the treatment that a soldier deserves. Sipping a cup of coffee, Abhinandan assured the worried Indians that he was not being manhandled while also showing remarkable composure and bravery. Just hours later, Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan sent India into delirium by announcing that Abhinandan would be returned to India as a peace gesture on Friday.

Since that announcement, the nation is waiting with bated breath for the Wing Commander to return home safely. Abhinandan will enter India through the Wagah Border in Punjab where a team of Air Force will receive him. People in large numbers have gathered at the Border to witness the special moment, And as the mass across the country waits for the return of India’s Braveheart, India off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has left a perfect message for him.

The Tamil Nadu star took to Twitter to hail the Air Force pilot, writing, “In my time alive on this planet, I haven’t seen a bigger hero. ”

Ashwin in good form

On the playing front, the off-spinner has been doing well in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. On Thursday, he starred with the ball as Tamil Nadu beat Vidarbha by three wickets. Bowling with the new ball, Ashwin took 2 for 16 off his four overs to put his case in front of the selectors. Ashwin has fallen down the pecking order in limited-overs cricket and need to deliver consistently to get back into scheme of things.
