Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) President Sourav Ganguly has opened up on Virat Kohli’s attitude amidst reports of a confrontation with him. Recently, there have been certain talks on the captaincy issues wherein Kohli had stated that he wasn’t told by any of the board members to not step down as the T20I skipper.
However, it is to be noted that Ganguly had earlier reckoned that he personally asked Kohli to not give up the role. After the Indian Test skipper opened up on the same in a recent media conference, the cricketing fraternity was left all confused as his statement contradicted what the BCCI President had earlier stated.
But now, Ganguly spoke on Kohli’s attitude. In an event in Gurgaon, he was asked which player’s attitude does he like best. Answering the question, he said, “I like Virat Kohli’s attitude but he fights a lot.”
Further in the event, he was also asked how does he deal with all the stress in life. Ganguly came up with a rather sarcastic answer to this and reckoned, “There is no stress in life. Only wife and girlfriend give stress.”
Sourav Ganguly Reacts to Virat Kohli’s Remarks
A day after Rohit Sharma had replaced Virat Kohli as India’s full-time white-ball captain, Ganguly had said that the BCCI and selectors had together taken the call. He also added that he spoke to Virat regarding the same and asked him to not give up the captaincy of the shortest format.
“It’s a call that the BCCI and the selectors took together. Actually, the BCCI had requested Virat to not step down as the T20I skipper but obviously, he did not agree. And the selectors then did not feel it right to have two different captains for two white-ball formats,” the BCCI President had said.
However, in the press conference, Virat Kohli contradicted this statement which displayed the lack of communication in the process. Post this, when asked about Kohli’s comments, Ganguly said, “Let’s not take this further, I have nothing to say. It is the matter of the BCCI and they will only deal with it.”
