Odean Smith has had a hot and cold IPL 2022 so far in the two games played. While he was adjudged the Player of the Match for his unbeaten match-winning eight-ball 25 against the Royal Challengers Bangalore, he was the most expensive bowler during Punjab Kings’ last match against Kolkata Knight Riders which they lost by six wickets.

Meanwhile, Smith has picked one Indian player who he not only admires the most but would also like to meet if given an opportunity. The player is none other than India and Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma. Explaining the reason for picking Rohit, the West Indies all-rounder justified that he would like to have the Hitman’s aggressive batting nature in him.

I think that player would be Rohit Sharma: Odean Smith

“I think that player would be Rohit Sharma. He is one of those players with (amazing) batting speed. He is a very aggressive nature and I would like to take that (aspect of his batting) into my game also. I like watching him. I haven’t really interacted with him as yet but hopefully, soon I will be doing that”, said Odean Smith while speaking to News18.

Rohit Sharma is the most successful IPL captain having led the Mumbai Indians to a record five titles. Apart from that, the dynamic opener is also a very accomplished batter in the shortest format of the game. The ‘Hitman’ holds the record of having registered the maximum T20I centuries (4). Rohit is also the highest run-scorer in international T20s having amassed 3,308 runs from 124 outings averaging 32.75.

The Indian captain is also the third-highest run-getter in IPL history with 5662 runs from 215 matches at an average of 31.11 and a strike rate of 130.46 including a century and 40 half-centuries.

Coming back to IPL 2022, the five-time champions have lost their first two games. After a four-wicket defeat against Delhi Capitals, MI went down to the Rajasthan Royals by 23 runs in their second match. They would now be hoping to regroup and add the first two points to their tally in the next match against the Kolkata Knight Riders at the MCA Stadium in Pune on April 6.
