The 12th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is well and truly underway. Some quality cricket is being played across the country at various venues by all the eight teams. Along with showcasing the skills, the players, during the tournament, are also busy making the style statements and the man hogging the limelight is Lockie Ferguson. His twirled moustache has made the news for all the good reasons.
The Kiwi player is playing for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and has featured in both the matches the team played and won. Ferguson clocks in the high 140s more often than not and is an exceptional death bowler which is the reason the Kolkata franchise bagged him in the auction. Though more than his bowling, his moustache is trending in India.
After the KKR’s second game against the Kings XI Punjab, when he was asked about the same, Lockie Ferguson stated that he looks up to India’s Shikhar Dhawan when it comes to the twirled moustaches. “Well, cricket has had a great history of great moustaches, upper lip fashion as we call it, and probably one of the national heroes I look upto is Shikhar Dhawan,” he was quoted as saying by Times Now.
I am happy it lasts all day
Lockie Ferguson though admitted that it is difficult to maintain the moustache in sweaty conditions. But he is happy that it is going well so far for him in that aspect. “I have a moustache for a year or two but just this year I have started twirling the moustache to make sure it stays that way while I am playing. It is difficult to keep it up in sweaty weather conditions but I am happy that it lasts all day,” he further added.
As far as his on-field performances are concerned, Lockie Ferguson hasn’t disappointed either. In the two matches he has played for the KKR, the pace bowler has picked up one wicket and has nailed his bowling in the death overs.
