Usman Khawaja made his return to the Australian Test team after a gap of over two years in the Sydney Test. Khawaja made a century and helped Australia to reach a total of 416 runs on the first day of the fourth Ashes Test. He made 137 runs before getting bowled by Stuart Broad, who completed his five-wicket haul in this game.

After completing his century, Khawaja celebrated in a manner that was inspired by LeBron James’ silencer celebration. It was speculated that his celebration was aimed towards his doubters who did rule him out of contention to make a comeback. However, during an interview with Fox Sports, Khawaja mentioned that his celebration was not aimed at anybody as he was just enjoying the moment and it felt right to do that move.

“It is the LeBron silencer, you probably shouldn’t do it to a home crowd,” Khawaja said to Fox Sports. “I don’t know I was just so excited. Everything just came up in me. I love LeBron James. It just felt right. I do it mucking around with the boys all the time or when I hit a few good shots playing basketball. So I’ve had a bit of practice at it. I love Test cricket. But sometimes it feels a bit traditional for my liking, so I like to give it a bit of spark.”

Usman Khawaja had no idea where his wife and daughter were sitting

Just after Khawaja completed his century, the camera zoomed in towards his wife and daughter, who were standing and clapping on his milestone. However, Khawaja mentioned that he had no idea where they were sitting and he saw them only on the big screen.

“It is special I was actually trying to look for my wife and daughter,” Khawaja said. I saw them on the big screen but I was like, I don’t know where they are sitting. I tried to look for them but I couldn’t find them. It is really special. I am really blessed. I have so much fun. Aisha is an absolute legend. She is so much fun.”
